The manufacture and distribution of the HIV protease inhibitor Agenerase (amprenavir) was
discontinued by GlaxoSmithKline (GSK) in October 2007
.
Agenerase has been replaced by the HIV PI Lexiva (fosamprenavir)
, also manufactured by GSK. Fosamprenavir is a pro-drug of amprenavir, which is used for treatment of HIV infection in combination with low-dose ritonavir and other antiretroviral drugs.
